Protecting Teen Drivers

JOIN CITIZENS FOR SAFE STREETS TO PROTECT TEEN DRIVERS

If you’ve got a teenager you care about, you can be part of making South Carolina roads safer for young drivers. Consider these facts:

     - SC has the highest per mile fatality rate in the country.

     - Teen drivers were involved in fatal or injury collisions every hour and a half in 2023.

     - Approximately 1 in every 11 boys aged 15-24 and 1 in every 12 girls will be involved in a traffic collision.

     - Since the 1980s troopers on the road have decreased by 25% but miles driven have increased by 26%.

     - Car fatalities for children in SC are significantly higher than the national average (5.5% compared to 3.3%).

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PROTECT OUR TEEN DRIVERS?

      - Ask your legislative representative to support Automated Road Safety Cameras (ARSC), proven to reduce fatalities and increase road safety. SC is 1 of only 6 states that bans these cameras.

      - Share this message with friends and family and ask them to contact their legislators.
