Take Our Streets Back!
“In 2023, 5472 people died in crashes involving large trucks.”
Crag Fuller, NY Times- 4-24-26
As more people move into our city and county, traffic continues to increase. Why do we still allow trucks to travel right through the heart of town?
Pine Street (US 176) is a federal highway and has been a “designated truck route,” but Southport Rd (SC 296) is also a “designated truck route”.
Due to its proximity to schools and residences, Pine Street would NOT qualify as a truck route now. We need to have this designation revised.

Citizens of Spartanburg, it is time to raise your voices and take back our streets!! Contact your city and county government officials to ask for an appeal to SCDOT to remove the truck route designation from Pine Street.
